Glossary of Little Busters!

There are many uncommon words in "Little Busters!", especially in a story related to Kudryavka.
I tried to explain some of them (I guess about 70% of them).
I hope that this article helps you to understand her story more deeply.

Spoiler Alert! Some explanations have critical information. Please be careful.

2003UB313
This is an Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt Object found by Michael E. Brown, Chadwick A. Trujillo and David Lincoln Rabinowitz in 2003/10/21. Correctly, we write "313" in script size like 2003UB313.

C・イワノヴナ・ストルガツカヤ
Kudryavka's mother. Probably, "C" is a capital letter of "Chernushka"(Spoiler Alert!).

Man must rise above...
Man must rise above the World to the top of the atmosphere and beyond for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives.
Socrates's aphorism. In the Kudryavka root, this quotation is very significative.

MWNT
Acronym of "MultiWalled Carbon Nanotube".

TASA
Acronym of "Tebua Aeronautics and Space Administration".

КТС-72Д
"КТС" is an acronym of "космической транспортной системы(space transport system)", in other word, is a space shuttle. NASA identyfies their mission by naming "STS-NUMBER". STS-72 is Mr. WAKATA, Koichi's first mission.

С(エス)トゥーワナ
Using ruby characters for "С", they imply "С" is not an English letter. This is a Russian letter. "トゥーワナ(teuana)" means "one" in Gilbertese. "С" is a capital of "Спутник(Sputnik)", so "С teuana" means "new Sputnik I".

ч…рну…ка
Probably "чернушка(blackie)". Therefore, the dog tag is ...

あさっぷ
ASAP. Acronym of "as soon as possible".

アブシリーズ
Ab-series.
Abflex, Abtronic,...

一緒に絵を描こう
Let's draw a picture together.
Kudryavka explains this is a tradition of the marriage proposal. This is after manga artist TAKEMOTO, Izumi's "あおいちゃんパニック!".


ヴァーニャ
Ваня. "Иван"'s nickname.
Иван источников, a character of Joan Fontcuberta's "Sputnik". He boarded the shuttle Soyuz II with a dog Клока.

エフトゥシェンコ
Евгений Александрович Евтушенко.
Kudryavka refers to his poem "Заклинание".

オーシャン・ランチ・コーポレーション
Ocean Launch Corporation.
A parody of "Sea Launch Company".

学園革命スクレボ
A parody of "乙女的恋革命★ラブレボ".

カクテル効果
Usually, "カクテル・パーティ効果(cocktail party effect)".
Among a mixture of conversations, like a cocktail party, we can focus our attension on a single talker.

クジュトラブアの壷
Batteries made at Khujut Rabu'a.wiki.

クドリャフカ
Кудрявка. Little Curly.
She boarded Sputnik II on Nov 3, 1957, and died within hours from overheating.
Pray on Nov 3.

グラフコスモス
Главкосмос(Glavkosmos).
The Soviet space agency, in formally, "Главное управление по созданию и использованию космической техники в интересах народного хозяйства, научных исследований и международного сотрудничества в мирном освоении космоса".

クローカ
Клока.
She boarded Soyuz II with Ivan Istochnikov, and disappeared on Oct 26, 1968.

ゴードン・シャムウェイ
Gordon Shumway.
A character of american television sitcom "ALF".
Mr. George dubed "ALF" into Japanese.

能美
новый(new) ?
Then, "能美クドリャフカ" is very symbolic name.

のーじんじゃー
No ginger.
This is a play on words. In Japanese, "no" is "ない" and "ginger" is "しょうが". Japanese people, when they have no choice, say "しょうがない".

ノヴァヤテヴィーマテヌワ
Novaya tebwi ma tenua.
"Novaya (НОВОЯ)", a Russian word, means "new" and Kiribati "tebwi ma tenua" means "13".
"13" suggests Soviet space dogs. wiki.

ぶらっくほわいと
A play on words.
In Kanji (Chinese characters), "ぶらっく" (black) is "黒", "ほわいと" (white) is "白". Kanji have sevral ways of reading, one way of "黒" is "こく", "白"'s is "はく". "こくはく(告白)" means telling someone how one feels.


ミスター・ジョージ
Mr. George. Japanese tarento (Japanese rendering of the English word "talent").
He dubed "ALF" into Japanese.

モンペチ
A parody of "モンプチ".

わんわん元気
A parody of "愛犬元気".

わんわん元気ゴールド
A parody of "愛犬元気ゴールド".

This page made a lot clear about terminology in LB. Thank you very much for writing this!

You also might want to explain Russian sentences and that bird proverb(as your title). Or maybe the tell that Tebua Tarawa was a real island that sunk in 1999, and that they used this name.
